A few Recent MTO examples

Dear All, Hope you had a great weekend! We are really enjoying seeing some of the creations our clients are making in their MTO purchases. Some rather bold (like above) and then some a bit more classic but all have their own unique characteristics. Since launching the MTO programme we have seen some really cool models come through which is what we like to see as it always keeps us on our toes to ensure we are designing new things here for our ready to wear stock. If you are thinking about MTO, I would suggest looking at our MTO […]

The Tony II- A Wholecut with a twist

Dear All, A wholecut oxford is sometimes just too classic and predictable but not this one! Our Tony II in Dark Brown Museum Calf and Black presents a nice and sleek alternative to the classic wholecut that, will leave many admiring your feet. The Tony II comes on the LPB last and I feel it gives a lovely silhouette to this model. The fun is in in the ‘bouncy ball’ design which is not something commonly seen. We wanted to design something that has a fun twist yet remaining classic and elegant. Whilst this isn’t going to break records for […]

Black and Brown….together??

I made this sample a while back and have been hesitant to release it, especially in this colorway. Normallly I would have thought that black and brown went well together but after having seen it in another person’s shoes, I decided to make this sample to see how it would come out. I actually really like it, especially the contrast between grain and suede. But the question is how marketable/practical is it? Probably not much at all. But then again, who is doing it? No one. So I could either look at it two ways. 1. I could have […]

Rainier MTO

It’s not so different from the regular Rainier colorway, but when I saw this made up by a customer of SG, I was quite impressed with how it came out. One normally wouldn’t think that black and burgundy would be so complementary but I really like how they contrasted against each other and how complementary it actually became due to that elegant contrast (I know a lot of repeated words in the same sentence…but I don’t care). After seeing it, I thought that I wanted to release it in a RTW version but then realized that it would be quite […]

Two Tones: The Next Generation

I remember watching futuristic films showing what the world would be like in 2015. It had flying cars and all of the futuristic works. But what do we really have? For me it still feels like the late 90’s but with better clothing and bigger phones. So I like to think, “hey, at least people are wearing two toned shoes and things of color” where as before it was a sea of black and brown. And to me that is the future: Two toned shoes!!! And it’s happening. It’s not a theory. I see it all of the time now, […]

My Time in Milan

In the hopes of always trying new things and getting better products to make my shoes with, I went to Milan for the bi-annual Lineapelle leather fair and am currently still here. As luck would have it, I came down with a cold the day before leaving and still havent shaken it off. Travelling while ill definitely takes the fun out of it, but at least it’s just a cold and not a fever! Like Pitti, what I love about coming to Milan is that I have several friends here that are in the industry of whom I always enjoy […]
