The NGT Last

Dear All, We have 7 last shapes at J.F Footwear and wanted to start doing some blog posts about each of them. (LPB, TMG, MGF, SEA, NGT, NJF & JKF) Today we look at the NGT last. Our NGT last was designed to be the midway point between our TMG and JKF lasts ( to come in next posts). It’s intention was to serve as a last that was neither too round nor too pointy. We felt that this creation posed as the ideal ‘modern round’ last. The toe shape is not the only detail that separates our NGT last […]

A few Recent MTO examples

Dear All, Hope you had a great weekend! We are really enjoying seeing some of the creations our clients are making in their MTO purchases. Some rather bold (like above) and then some a bit more classic but all have their own unique characteristics. Since launching the MTO programme we have seen some really cool models come through which is what we like to see as it always keeps us on our toes to ensure we are designing new things here for our ready to wear stock. If you are thinking about MTO, I would suggest looking at our MTO […]

Group MTO- Coming Soon

Dear All, It’s been a very busy start to 2017 and we can only see it getting busier! One thing which we are very excited about is the upcoming launch of our new Group MTO Programme (launching Mid-Feb) This has been done by many brands to great effect and we can see why. In short you get the chance to purchase a shoe not available in the ready-to-wear collection but without an MTO upcharge Fee. We are always making samples of shoes which we like and also MTO samples to showcase what can be done in this service. Below is […]

Samples- where the inspiration starts

Dear All, Hope you are having a great week. Many of you may or may not know how long it takes to come up with the model that you see in each Ready to wear collection. It is a long process from an idea that Justin has sketched on a piece of paper to the finished article available to buy online or in store. When I worked on Savile Row and Jermyn St in previous jobs, being part of Management I got to see alot of how the design teams came up with garments ready for a collection which […]

Green is the New Blue!

I have been seeing a lot more green in the shoe world. And I think that it is great progress. I remember when I used to preach the idea of wearing navy/blue shoes as a way to break the rules and step outside of the norm. Now I see blue shoes all of the time and I am so happy for it. Almost every conservative brand (or once conservative) now has a pair of blue shoes in the RTW rotation. Some even have more than one. But now I feel that green is the next color. I see people asking […]

The Wedgwood

The beauty of the balmoral boot is that the options of what you can do with it are endless, whether you want to keep it all one color, mix it up with two shades of colors or better yet all of the different leathers/fabrics that can be used too. I think that is why I love boots so much. I just feel that they are better suited for mix and matching with different materials and colors, from suede to grain to tweed and anything else that lining can be backed to. And even better is the fact that if you […]

Latest MTO: David Gone Grain!

Our latest rendition shows how changing a few details can make a certain model look really different to itself. Here you see our new boot model, David, in it’s changed form (above) and how it originally came way back when (in green). What’s even crazier is that it was a transformation of our Wedgwood model, simply adding some brogueing and a straight cap. With that in mind, you can really picture the evolution of this model and how it has gone from plain toe bal-boot with a minimalist look to the heavier brogued version with double soles and grained leather! […]

Wedgwood MTO’s

The Wedgwood is quite often a popular model for my MTO program. I guess it might be due to it’s two toned nature as a model and the fact that balmoral boots have become significantly more popular in the recent years. I noticed that almost every single Wedgwood MTO that I have done, the customer has added the medallion to it. It makes me wonder, ‘should I be putting it on there to begin with?’ Would I then make more sales I wonder? Hmmmm, usually the proof is in the pudding, but then again it is hard to change something […]

Brown Westlake Button Boot – Down a Treat on IG!

Two Swedish customers of ours (@thesh0e and @macco12345678) have been doing a great job at showing our Westlake button boot in the antique brown, on Instagram. I love the support and seeing the boots on people’s feet. I only wonder where all of the pictures of the blue, hazel and black ones? Coming I suppose.! What really cracks me up though is how nearly every time the boots are worn with some shade of grey. I am just waiting for a blue or some other color trouser to get in there! I have a feeling one will be coming soon. […]
